With regard to the opinions given in the Courier last week on street lighting we are all taxpayers and any person walking the streets after midnight deserves the same benefit of lighting as any person before midnight. For the author of the letter to say ‘that people should take responsibility for their own safety and carry a small torch’ is, I am afraid, just no argument. This is the 21st century not the dark ages.
Reported crime maybe down, but there has been an increase in burglaries around Warwick all after the lights have gone out.
LED lights are the way forward and as they are brighter and last longer it maybe possible to have every other light on. But no lights at all is just dangerous.”
