The best games coming in April 2020 - from Resident Evil 3 to Final Fantasy VII Remake

April 2020 looks set to be a cracking month for new game releases, with everything from blockbuster remakes to narrative-driven indie titles to keep everyone occupied.

Here are the eight best looking titles scheduled to be released this month.

Resident Evil 3

PS4, PC, Xbox One

What is it? Last year's Resident Evil 2 remake was one of the finest games of 2019, taking the groundwork established by Capcom's 1998 classic and updated it both in the gameplay and graphical departments to meet the expectations of modern day gamers.

The game proved such a success, Capcom are taking a similar tack with 1999's Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, updating the game with new graphics and an overhauled presentation to bring it in line with today's standards.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

PS4

What is it? In April, PlayStation 4 fans will finally be able to get their hands on Final Fantasy VII Remake, a remake of the 1997 game that's considered the very best in the long-running Final Fantasy franchise.

Final Fantasy VII is often considered one of the best RPGs of all time, and its remake is one of the longest-awaited games in recent memory.

Much like Resident Evil 3, the game is a full remake with full 3D graphics, as opposed to the pre-rendered environments the technology of the mid-90s afforded the original.

When can I play it? 10 April

Someday You'll Return

PC, PS4, Xbox One

What is it? This story-driven psychological horror game tells the story of a desperate search for a missing daughter deep in the woods where you swore you'd never return.

You'll played as Daniel, the father of Stela, forced by your daughter's disappearance to return to a vengeful forest in a game inspired by classics like Silent Hill, Outlast 2 and Resident Evil 7.

When can I play it? 14 April

Cloudpunk

PC

What is it? Taking inspiration from other story-based titles, Cloudpunk sees you play as Rania, working her first shift for the semi-legal delivery company that gives the game its title.

Set in a futuristic, neon-streaked world inspired by real-world places like Tokyo, Hong Kong and Seoul, Cloudpunk is filled with characters to meet and stories to discover as you explore and deliver packages to underground nightclubs and gardens in the sky.

Combining exploration with narrative, you'll discover dense, vertical landscapes that reach high into the clouds and deep down through the ocean waves below.

When can I play it? 23 April

Filament

PC

What is it? Filament is a story-rich and fully narrated puzzle game centred around solving sets of cable-based puzzles whilst exploring a seemingly abandoned spaceship.

You're free to explore the mysterious ship, solving over 300 challenging and varied puzzles in almost any order you like.

You'll search crew logs, messages, records, and personal items found around the ship on your quest to find out what happened aboard The Alabaster.

When can I play it? 23 April

Deliver Us the Moon

PS4, Xbox One

What is it? In this sci-fi thriller - set in an apocalyptic near future where Earth's natural resources are depleted - you play as a lone astronaut sent to the Moon on a mission to save humanity from extinction.

An immersive, atmostpheric experience, you'll take on zero gravity, explore barren deserts, huge space stations and abandoned Moon settlements as you piece together the events that befell a lunar colony..

Deliver Us the Moon first released in late 2019, but is coming to PS4 and Xbox One for the first time this month.

Trials of Mana

PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4

What is it? Trials of Mana is a full, high-definition remake of the third entry in the classic Mana series, originally released in Japan as Seiken Densetsu 3 in 1995.

The remake aims to bring the story and characters to a new, modern era of fans with real-time combat, beautiful 3D graphics and updated gameplay, and tells the story of six heroes as they battle against the forces of evil that threaten the world.

Players craft their own experience by selecting a party of three from these characters, and embark on an adventure of a lifetime to protect the essence of Mana itself.

Gears Tactics

PC, Xbox One

What is it? The next game in the Gears of War series take a slight departure from the frenetic, third-person shooter gameplay of its predecessors, and instead presents fans with a fast-paced, turn-based strategy game.

Set 12 years before the first Gears of War game, players must recruit and command a squad to hunt down Ukkon, an evil mastermind who makes monsters.

You'll play as defiant soldier Gabe Diaz, and you'll have customise your squad and equipment to prepare your troops to face tough enemies, upgrading squad skills and outfitting them with loot collected in challenging missions.

When can I play it? 28 April
