Three sellout shows, one of which was broadcast on Sky Sports, and a roster of 22 boxers, including several Midlands champions, has established Cleary’s ABC as one of the country’s leading gyms.

Open class fighter Sean Greenfield has been tipped for Great Britain honours, while Michael Jephcott bids to continue his impressive run of form when he takes on Hockwell Ring’s Zeeshan Tahir in the quarter-final of the ABAE Senior Novice Championship tomorrow night.

And with a pre-Christmas show at The Assembly on Friday December 13 already close to selling out, Cleary sees no reason to put a ceiling on what his gym can achieve.

“I believed last season was so good and would have been very hard to top,” said Cleary. “But already this season is pushing it.

“I believe if boxers make the right weights and, with a little luck this season, could be better still.”

Myles Vale won the best boxer accolade after clocking up more than 20 fights, winning a Midlands vest and sparring with British welterweight champion Frankie Gavin.

Nav Singh Manku’s decision to switch to southpaw paid dividends as he picked up most improved boxer, while the boxers’ boxer award went to 16-year-old Danny Quartermaine.

Remaining tickets for the December 13 show are available from Edwin Cleary on 07723 389774, priced at £11.
