Warwick Racing boxers are buzzing, says coach
Warwick Racing head coach Steve Myrie says there is ‘a real buzz’ around the club following their latest successful show at the Assembly.
“We have a fabulous squad of boxers in all weights and are really excited about the forthcoming season,” said Myrie. “There is a real buzz in the gym now and it showed in all the lad’s performances.”
Eight boxers from Warwick Racing were in action, with Liam Miller kicking off proceedings by taking a comfortable decision.
Debutant Sam Newey lost on a majority decision but had the consolation of the best bout of the evening, while fellow new boys Sunni Bhamra and Libby Durant showed considerable promise in defeat.
Andy McKay picked up the best boxer of the night accolade after winning all three rounds, while Mike Byles outclassed his opponent, stopping him at the end of the second round.
Brad Lambert dominated the third round on his way to a majority decision against a far more seasoned fighter to win the Warwickshire Light Heavyweight title and Richard Chavasse rounded off the night with a narrow defeat.
