Holleran is hoping to home in on a play-off spot

Brakes emerged from difficult away trips to Redditch and Weymouth with just a point to show for their efforts to further muddy the play-off picture.

Three away blanks in four have left Leamington anxiously looking over their shoulders in the fifth and final play-off spot.

However, Holleran said the paucity of goals was to be expected.

“A lot of the games at the top are very tight,” he said.

“With the situation as it is, teams don’t want to lose.

“Redditch was a hard, competitive game on a difficult pitch while Weymouth surprised me.

“I thought they’d come out gung-ho but they set up 4-3-3 and over-ran us in midfield a little.

“There was plenty of endeavour and resilience from us but we lacked a little bit of quality.”

A top-five finish still remains in Brakes’ hands, with tomorrow’s home clash with rock-bottom Paulton providing a perfect opportunity to put the Weymouth defeat behind them.

“We haven’t got time to dwell on it.

“The logistics of Weymouth were difficult - not getting there until 7pm.

“So we’ll be glad to get back home and move on.

“We’re still in a good position. Now we’ve got to drive it home and cement our place in the play-offs.”
