The event was held over two days on a flat three-mile course of sand, grass and hard- pack trails in the depths of Cranwich Forest.

Sherwin took gold with her Border Collie Tickle in the veteran female open class for Bikejor, which sees competitors mountain biking with a dog attached.

Sherwin, who runs for Leamington C&AC, clocked 10min 17sec on day one and was just five seconds slower the following day.

She also claimed a silver medal in the veteran female canicross alongside her working-bred Pointer Daphne, recording a time of 16:31 on day one and 16:23 the following day.

Sherwin is now hopeful of qualification in both disciplines for the IFSS European Championships which are being held at the same venue in November.

“I’ve been injured so have been working hard on my biking due to not being able to run as much,” admitted Sherwin.

“I’m chuffed to bits that the hard work has paid off.

“My two dogs are superstars and worked their socks off for me.”
