Leamington's Beddoes quits pro ranks to move to States

Leamington Squash Club's Emma Beddoes has announced her retirement from squash after more than nine years competing on the professional scene.

Beddoes, 30, who started playing squash at Leamington as an eight-year-old, played in the Warwickshire leagues from 14, represented England as a junior and went on to play for the England women’s team who won gold at the World Team Championship in 2014.

She also won a Commonwealth Games bronze medal and ten world squash titles.

The former world number 11 is now embarking on a new career as squash and wellness director at MetroSquash, an urban squash programme in Chicago.

She said: “I have a passion for the role squash and education can play in helping the lives of those less fortunate and I can’t wait to get started.”
