Lillington Free Church TTC held its final tournament of the season at St Nicholas Leisure Centre in Warwick on Saturday, attracting a full entry and players from far and wide.
The morning’s events culminated in two cracking senior semi-finals with Lee Dorning defeating Corby’s Henry Arthur and Sam Weaving beating clubmate Sam Wiggins to set up an all-Free Church final which Dorning won 3-0.
The junior event was also a Free Church affair. Adam Cofler came through his semi-final against Will Apted of Eathorpe to face James Robertson who saw off Ben Pearce of Blaenafon. Cofler took the title 11-1, 8-11, 14-12, 12-10.
The cadets’ prize went to the impressive Jack Finney of the Draycott club in Long Eaton who triumphed over Rugby starlet Sam Cafearo.
Young Sophie Rinnhofer of Colebridge won a tense five-setter against Blaenafon’s Callum Hunt to take the under-13 event.
The afternoon events saw a repeat of the morning as Dorning and Weaving contested the Grade A final, Dorning winning 3-1 on this occasion.
The Grade B contest allowed Cafearo to get a winners’ trophy as he triumphed over Matt Pearce of Blaenafon.
Finney landed the improvers’ trophy, defeating Apted and Church’s Joshua Yarrow, yet to make his league debut, lifted the beginners’ event against Rugby’s Angel Chen.

Improvers: Callum Pickering (Eathorpe) beat Katie Singleton (Lillington Free Church). Beginners: Nicholas Ho (Lillington Free Church) beat Oliver Wilson (Rugby).
