Kenilworth’s Sarah-Jane Perry bowed out in the quarter-final of the British Open in Hull, going down 11-6, 11-8, 12-10 to legendary Malaysian Nicol David.
The British champion, celebrating her 25th birthday, produced an aggressive display and led 8-4 in the third.
However, David, who beat Emma Beddoes in the last 16, produced a controlled display to save three game points and win in 46 minutes.
“I think I really played well,” said David. “I came on strong at the right times.
“You just need to keep fighting all the way. Sarah-Jane is a really talented player.”
David lost out in the semi-final to England’s Laura Massaro, who in turn went down to France’s Camille Serme in the final.
