In her first European Championships and only her second race at the distance, Moss completed the 1500m open water swim, 42k bike and 10k run in 2hr 22min 7sec to finish behind fellow Brit Jo Phillips in the 40-44 age category.

“Coming home with a silver medal from my first European Championships is beyond any expectations I had for the race,” said Moss.

“I’ve trained hard over winter and it’s been tough at times, but it’s all paying off now, with everything going perfectly to plan in the race.

“I still can’t quite believe it.”

The success continues a great start to the season for Moss which has seen her qualify for the World Duathlon Championships and finish first female at both the Southam and Stratford triathlons.

She is back in action on June 18 when she takes part in the World Championship qualifiers at Rutland Water.
