Director bows out with classical masterpieces at Warwick church
The performance of Mozart’s Requiem and Haydn’s Nelson Mass will be the final concert conducted by the choirs’ director of music Thomas Corns before he leaves to take up the position of Director of Music at Sheffield Cathedral in June.
Thomas said: “It has been a privilege to direct the music and choirs of St Mary’s since 2008.

Hide Ad“An orchestra of many of the country’s finest period instrumentalists and four of the brightest young soloists have been assembled. It will be the final concert in which I conduct the choirs, and it promises to be an unforgettable evening.”
Thomas’s final weeks coincide with a busy period for the choirs, which includes a performance in St John’s, Smith Square, London and broadcasts on BBC national radio.
The first choir at St Mary’s, Warwick was formed in 1123 when the Church was established as a collegiate foundation.
The choirs of give frequent concerts and have performed in the USA and across Europe. They have recently featured on BBC One,, BBC Radio 2 and 3 and live on BBC Radio 4 and have made many recordings.

Hide AdThe choirs have had multiple successes in the BBC Young Chorister of the Year competition, with this year’s winning girl, Florence Cain, a current member of the choirs.
The concert will feature soprano Imogen Russell, mezzo-soprano Judy Brown, tenor Matthew Sandy and bass Edmund Saddington. It takes place on Saturday March 11 at 7.30pm.
