A West End and Broadway hit reflecting the later life of a glittering star is coming to the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry.
End of the Rainbow comes to the venue from Tuesday, February 23, to Saturday, February 27.
It’s 1968 and Judy Garland, a once-glittering star, is in London to make her explosive comeback.
But off stage, holed up in her hotel room, Judy is battling with her young new fiancé, her devoted accompanist, and her destructive addictions. Will she be able to conquer her demons and reclaim her crown as one of history’s great musical icons?
It features some of Garland’s most memorable songs including The Man That Got Away, Come Rain Or Come Shine and Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
Lisa Maxwell, who is best known for playing Detective Inspector Samantha Nixon in The Bill, and who was also a panelist on the ITV show Loose Women, plays Judy Garland. She was also a performer on The Russ Abbot show which led to her own starring series entitled The Lisa Maxwell Show.
Gary Wilmot, a star of many Wes End shows and musical theatre, will appear in the role of Anthony, a friend of Garland.
Former Eastenders actor Sam Attwater plays the role of fiancee Mickey.
He was also one of the competitors on the ITV reality show Dancing on Ice.
The part of Judy Garland will be played by Ellen Verenieks on the Thursday evening.
Tickets for the show cost from £13.25 to £31.75.
