Boom and blast at Battle Proms at Warwickshire hall

As well as a full orchestral programme filled with Proms favourites, the event on Saturday August 31 will include a Second World War Spirfire aerial display, impressive feats by the Blades Aerobatic Team, a mounted Napoleonic skill-at-arms displays and fairgrounds stalls.

Audiences are as usual encouraged to bring their own picnics, but there will also be tables in the concert pavilion marquee, which gives a prime view of the entertainment.

There will also be a VIP parking area for pavilion ticket-holders, and the space will host a talk by conductor Douglas Coombes.

The event will be supporting the military charity Combat Stress.

Ragley Hall’s commercial manager Emma Maguire said: “We’re delighted to be hosting our third spectacular Battle Proms concert. With a lakeside setting, Ragley has a stunning and breathtaking location. The wonderful orchestral music, cavalry displays and cannon fire come together to create a truly unique event, culminating in an amazing fireworks display. It is concert not to be missed.”

The manor house and grounds in Alcester - designed in 1600 - includes an Adventure Wood and 3D maze and lake and visitors can go on pony rides and woodland walks. There are ten hectares of ‘Capability’ Brown designed gardens and an open-air sculpture collection.

Tickets to the Battle Proms, which starts at 4.30pm, cost £34 in advance or £39 on the gate (£16 children). Reservations for a table for four in the concert pavilion cost £240, while a table for six costs £360.
