Hatton’s Connor finds fame with the Vamps

Young music fans have been well aware of the Vamps for some time - so vast was their online following in fact that they packed venues around the country on their first tour and their first single, Can We Dance, had already hit that number one spot in the midweek charts just days after its release.

Bass player Connor Ball, who - inbetween his hotel-stepping around the country and this week, in Los Angeles - lives with his parents Kelly and Simon and little brother in Hatton, had begun studying a music technology course at Warwickshire College when he met his fellow bandmates on YouTube.

He said: “We had all put out some acoustic covers. I wasn’t specifically looking to join a band - I was just hoping that something might happen.”

The former Henley-in-Arden School pupil has been playing the guitar since he was 12 but only took up bass in the last two years. He said: “Our music is a bit different - it’s indie and acoustic but with the pop element. We love to write music as well.

“The reception has been amazing so far. We went on tour with McFly, which was amazing because they’re one of my favourite bands. It was crazy to be playing with them.”
