Magical action at Coventry panto

THE Belgrade Theatre’s traditional non-celebrity Christmas pantomime continues its long-run on the main Coventry stage.

And although the panto determinedly steers away from soap opera stars in title roles, it has to be said that Andy Hockley’s ‘Dame’ has built up an ever-growing fan club.

This year it’s Mother Goose, which has been co-produced by Steve Boden, who said: “This is a great panto with a really strong battle between good and evil at its core.

“Andy is such a great Dame and has always wanted to play Mother Goose. This year’s production promises to be one of the most spectacular ever staged at the theatre with amazing scenery and costumes.

“And - without giving too much away - there will be plenty of comedy and slapstick fun, including a very messy decorating scene.”

A terrific ‘pop-up’ story book set has been designed by Mark Walters and includes a spectacular waterfall, a creepy demon’s lair and some rather magical rope and pulley action as the goose takes flight.

The pantomime runs until January 7. Tickets are available from the box office on 024 7655 3055 or via www.belgrade.co.uk
