Mischevious creatures on show at Joel’s

THE secret world of fairies, goddesses, wizards and mischevious creatures is explored through art at an exhibition in Warwick.

Joel’s Gallery at Goldstraws in High Street is displaying original watercolour paintings by Southam artist June Williams until Tuesday June 30.

Showing in the gallery’s stairwell space, Fairy Stories reflects June’s personal life. She said: “I have always enjoyed painting since childhood, but had to put my artistic ambitions on hold while I brought up my family. I now live in a 18th century cottage, enjoying my garden, all of which often feature in my fairy paintings.”

June has two daughters, both artistic too, and as a signature, they are always represented in every painting as two little redheaded fairies.

The gallery is open on Mondays and Wednesday to Saturday 10.30am to 4.30pm and on Sundays from 11am to 3pm. Entry is free. Call 410929 or go online. www.goldstraws.org.uk
