Passionate Leamington writer shares her work

A LEAMINGTON writer who was inspired to start writing to help her grieve for her son has published her first novel.

Sally Tissington, who is currently the writer-in-residence at Trinity School, recently shared some excerpts from the work, Crocodile on the Carousel, at Oxfam Books and Music shop in Leamington.

A prize-winning artist and writer, Sally has gained a masters degree in fine art at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design and another in creative writing from University of East Anglia.

She said: “I am passionate about teaching creativity and encouraging other people, believing that writing helps us make sense of life and makes us more rounded as human beings.

“I enjoy working with a variety of groups and making writing as painless and fun as possible.

“I started writing seriously after the death of my first son, realising that no one was going to wave a magic wand and make me into a writer.”

Sally has since had two other sons and is currently working on her second novel, which is carrying the working title, Let Me Tell You About Alastair Spain.
