David Shannon and Rebecca Thornhill, who have starred as Jean Valjean and Fantine in Les Miserables London shows, will be accompanied by the full symphonic sound of the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra as they celebrate the epic stage and film with a performance of songs from the show.

The musical production of Les Miserables has been seen by more than 65 million people in 42 countries and in 22 languages around the globe and still breaking box office records in its 28th year.

David said: “It’s so exciting to be a part of this spectacular concert at Warwick Castle.

“To be able to perform in such a beautiful setting will be incredible - and with a full concert orchestra it will be a very evocative performance for both Rebecca and I and the audience.”

This year’s proms, which take place at the castle on Saturday from 7.30pm, will also include all the favourites associated with the Last Night of the Proms performed by the Royal Philharmonic Concert orchestra, with conductor Jae Alexander.

Tenor Nicky Spence and soprano Janet Mooney will return to the castle - and flag-waving will be encouraged.

The evening also includes a pre-show performance by the Overtones.

A Spitfire flyover and firework finale will contribute to what organisers are promising will be “the most spectacular outdoor music experience”.

Audiences are welcome to bring their own picnic and drinks - although it is recommended to bring blankets or chairs to sit on and warm and waterproof clothing.

Tickets cost £30 (£10 for children). Visit www.warwickconcerts.com or www.warwick-castle.com
