Talk on acclaimed artist at Leamington gallery

LEAMINGTON Art Gallery and Museum’s head gallery assistant Roz Crampton will give a talk about the work and life of the artist Bridget Riley CBE at the venue tomorrow (Friday).

The free Friday Focus lunchtime talk, from 1pm, will highlight Riley’s design for the London 2012 Olympics poster - titled Rose Rose.

Born in 1931, Riley started to develop her signature Op Art style around the 1960s.

Her patterned works are designed to produce a disorientating effect on the eye.

Her work Drawing R1001 from 1971 is part of the Art Gallery and Museum’s fine art collection.

Roz said: “Riley’s art is stunning, you never get bored looking at it.

“In my talk I will explain how events in her personal life have shaped her work.”
