Town centre creativity with new arts studios in Leamington

A new art space in Leamington is already fast becoming a hub of creativity for artists in and around the town.

ArtsTrail Studios, in the former furniture shop in Regent Court, Livery Street, was recently set up by Gerry Smith, who founded the neigbouring volunteer-run Gallery 150, and Chris Barrow, a former manager of Bath Place Community Venture, as a space for artists to work in and exhibit.

From Monday to Friday, the studios are mainly used by locally-based artists-in-residence Bryan Kelly, Tom Shepherd, Wendy Cook, Paul Jordan and Sonia Bublaitis - with more signed up, including a California-based photographer.

At the weekend, other artists are able to sell their own work by taking a stall inside or outside for the Leamington Contemporary Arts Fairs and Arts Sundays, alongside musical and arts performances.

A scanning, printing and framing service for artists is also available, while they can also take part in workshops, social activities and networking projects.

The studios are also open every day for people to view art and chat to the artists-in-residence.

Anyone interested in getting involved as a volunteer to help with projects, set up exhibitions and act as gallery assistants, is invited to get in touch. The ArtsTrail team would also like to hear from artists who would like to rent studio space or stalls or run workshops at the venue.
