Warwick theatre group’s triple bill offers twists galore

AUDIENCES can be thrilled and amused in one night of theatre as a Warwick drama group performs three short plays in succession.

The Warwick Phoneix Players’ evening of entertainment, which is taking place on Friday, is called Twists In The Tales.

It will include Peter Horsler’s The Intruders, Richard Harris’ Plaster and Mantrap by Paul Reakes.

In The Intruders, Bill breaks in to a rich house he is caught by Adrian.

What follows is an examination of class values and a look at the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’ and an interesting study into human behaviour.

Plaster, set in a hospital ward, begins with Helen visiting her husband Eric after he has been in a car accident. She tries in her own naive way to discover what happened to him, providing much entertainment for the audience.

In Mantrap, Trevor’s quiet night is shattered by a girl screaming at his window to be let in.

She tells him she is being chased by someone threatening to kill her.

What transpires is a web of intrigue and mystery as he tries to help her.

Patrons should note that there are scenes in this play which are not suitable for young children.

Ian Warwick of the Players said: “Even though the group has not had a permanent home for seven years and has a smaller number of members, the standard of performances is still as high as it was over 35 years ago when we started out as the Woodloes Drama Group.
