Pump Room, Leamington, 1pm: Friday Focus talk. Leamington Looks Back at Waterloo mini festival will begin with a free talk by local historian Jacqui Kirk who will present Rattle in a Red Coat. Free entry.

Belgrade Theatre, Coventry: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, a dramatisation of John Boyne’s highly-acclaimed and best-selling novel, an emotive tale of an unlikely friendship between two innocent boys set during the Second World War. Park Farm, Compton Verney:

The Also Festival welcomes Chocolat author Joanne Harris; offers the chance for everyone to sing at its Rockaoke session; and enjoy a closing party with DJ Greg Wilson. Supervised wild swimming sessions take place twice a day, while food will be served by the likes of The Black Cab Coffee Co and Nina, with a Great Indian Food Feast on the Saturday night. Kenilworth Library, Smalley Place, 10am to 5pm. An exhibition of work by members of Coventry Photographic Society is raising money for Myton Hospice. Unusually for a photographic exhibition, all the prints are being offered for sale with the proceeds going to Myton Hospice. The exhibition, which comprises some two hundred prints, will be open from 10am until 5pm every weekday and from 10am until 1pm on the two Saturdays.

Balsall Common, noon to 4pm: Berkswell Windmill open day, with guided tours costing £3.50 for adults, £3 concessions, £1 under 16s and £8 family ticket. All proceeds go towards the maintenance of the mill. Children can mill flour with mini-stones, and plants and honey will be for sale.
