The Haydn “St Nicholas” mass was composed in 1772 for St Nicholas’ Day, the name day of Haydn’s court employer, prince Nicolaus Esterhazy. Mozart’s ‘Laudate Dominum’ is a lyrical solo movement from his Solemn Vespers of 1780. The dynamic and exhilarating ‘Insanae et vanae curae’ is a chorus from one of Haydn’s early oratorios.
