Edward, an engineering apprentice at Mondelez International’s Bournville chocolate factory, took home the regional Advanced Apprentice of the Year award.

He said: “Three years ago I left education with good grades but no relevant work experience. My apprenticeship has given me the experience and skills I need for the workplace and the opportunity to progress onto the company’s ‘future leaders’ programme.

“I’m currently working towards my foundation degree and I’m looking forward to my final year.”

The National Apprenticeship Awards, now in their 11th year, are run by the National Apprenticeship Service.
