Regent Court manager in line for award

Maria Hughes, the manager of Leamington’s Regent Court shopping centre is in line for a top honour at one of the UK retail industry’s most highly recognised award ceremonies.

Maria, who has been manager at the New River Retail-owned, Workman LLP-managed shopping centre for less than two years, is among four nominated finalists in the Commercialisation Manager of the Year category of the Sceptre Awards, which are now in their 15th year.

The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony at The Dorchester in London on June 24.

The Sceptre Awards recognise best practice and the best people in the UK’s shopping centre industry and last year they attracted 286 entries for its 15 categories.

Regent Court has now established itself as a food quarter in Leamington and Maria has introduced a number of changes. She has also instigated a weekly food market by Eat Street, an Art Studio with local artists in residence and other events with street food and crafts combined.

Included in the criteria for the award is financial performance, tenant mix, footfall and vitality and wider customer service initiatives.

Maria joined Regent Court from Shakespeare’s Birth Place Trust in Stratford where she was facilities manager.
