Michelle plans skydive to raise cash for Women’s Aid

Michelle Wilson who works for Hawkesford in Leamington is undertaking a challenging 13,000ft tandem skydive on August 18 to raise essential funds for Women’s Aid.

Michelle, who lives in Knowle, is supporting Women’s Aid’s vital work with women and children escaping domestic violence. Women’s Aid support, on average, up to 250,000 women and children each year.

On the day, Michelle will be jumping 13,000ft above the fields of Banbury at Hinton Skydiving Centre and will be raising much-needed funds and awareness for Women’s Aid.

She said: “From a young age, domestic violence has been close to my heart, with one in four women experiencing it during their lifetime. I feel that it’s important for young people to be taught about these issues in schools and to help people know exactly what to do if they’re ever put in a position where someone they love is being hurt, especially when one woman is killed every three days by a violent partner or ex-partner. I am jumping for Women’s Aid to give abused women and children a voice and a chance for a better life”.

Michelle, a lettings administrator for Hawkesford, is taking part in this event for the first time. Having always been scared of heights, she is determined to show that everyone has the strength to overcome fear in the hopes that women and children everywhere will be able to find the strength to come forward to put an end to domestic violence.

Managing director James Hawkesford said: “As someone who enjoys flying in light aircraft I have no idea why anyone would want to jump out of one, but Michelle is doing this for a fantastic charity and I hope she raises a fantastic total. ”

Michelle hopes that local people will show their support by sponsoring her for this dive, so she can raise as much money as possible and would greatly appreciate any contributions.
