Jazz award winner in town Leamington

SLAP bass, soulful sax and funky beats will fill the Leamington Assembly next weekend when jazz legend Courtney Pine comes to town.

No one better embodies the dramatic transformation in the British Jazz scene over the past 20 years than Courtney Pine.

Having released a 13 albums in a career spanning over 24 years he is perhaps known best for his album Modern Day Jazz Stories and won a Mercury Music prize for album of the year in 1996, along with a MOBO award for best jazz act two years in a row.

In 2000 he was awarded an OBE, and last year received a CBE for services to music, and has had a long running radio show on BBC Radio Two, and has performed around the world.

He will appear in Leamington on Saturday March 12 and tickets cost £17 in advance.
