Bishop underlines women’s important roles

Days after using his maiden speech in the House of Lords to pay tribute to the vital role of women in the region, the Bishop of Coventry visited a girls’ school in Leamington.

The Right Reverend Dr Christopher Cocksworth spoke to students at The Kingsley School about making his debut in the House and taking part in his first debate there on International Women’s Day. He told the girls that this is an important date in the calendar which has its roots in the movement to give women around the world the right to vote.

“One day when you are old enough to vote you will be indebted to them,” he said.
