Car cartwheels after crashing through wall near Wellesbourne

Ambulance crews arrived at the scene along the A429 to find a car had gone through a wall on a bend, landing in a ditch before flipping over and landing on its wheels.

A woman who was travelling in the back of the car had freed herself, suffering potentially serious internal injuries in the crash.

A man who was sat in the front of the car was cut free by firefighters and taken to hospital with chest injuries caused by his seat belt.

Another man who was in the car at the time was not at the scene when emergency crews arrived.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “A woman, who had been in the rear seat, was out of the car on arrival, though it wasn’t possible to determine how she had got out. She had suffered potentially serious internal injuries and had abdominal pain.

“After being immobilised, she was taken to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire.

“A man who had been in the front of the car was extricated from the wreckage with the help of firefighters. He had suffered chest injuries from the seat belt.

“He too was immobilised and was taken to the same hospital by ambulance.”

Three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and a paramedic area support officer attended.
