A 60-year-old Rugby man has been banned for 22 months after being caught driving nearly 2½ times over the limit.

Tests showed Matthew Wright had 195 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his blood after he was stopped in Three Bridges Road, Long Buckby Wharf, in June last year.

The legal limit is 80mg per 100ml.

Wright, of Aspen Road, Rugby, was fined £161 and ordered to pay a £34 surcharge to fund victim services plus £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
