Driver arrested after three killed in Leamington car crash

Three young people were killed in a car crash in Leamington in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).

The accident occurred at around 2.45am on Radford Road, Leamington, near to the junctions of Willes Road and Eastnor Grove.

A blue Citroen Saxo travelling out of Leamington on the A425 is believed to have left the road and hit a tree.

A 23-year-old man, a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman received fatal injuries in the collision and died at the scene.

A 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old man have been taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, where their injuries are described as stable.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police and paramedics attended the incident and the road will be closed for several hours while police investigators examine the scene to determine the cause of the collision.

The three who died have not yet been named as formal identification is still to take place.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward as part of their investigation. Anyone with any information should contact Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 53 of June 20.
