‘Dwarf’, 87, survives stage fall

AN 87-year-old Lapworth actor made his final stage exit a dramatic one – by accidentally falling off the stage.

Jack Green was playing the role of Dwarf number one in the opening night of the Lapworth Players’ late-season pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, when the incident occurred last Wednesday.

Shock filled the village hall as the performance halted while a cast member trained in first aid attended to the pensioner, who was taken to hospital while the play continued with six dwarves.

Speaking afterwards, Mr Green, who has been a member of the players for 22 years, said: “I am all right – no breakages but a few bruises. I bounced but I got away with it. I took one pace too many back into fresh air.

“It’s been great to be in the group but I doubt I will do another play – unless they give me the juvenile lead!”
