Fallen soldier’s family help raise the flag

THE family of fallen Warwick soldier Pte Conrad Lewis joined the Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire on Monday to raise the flag for Armed Forces Day on Saturday.

Pte Lewis, who served with the Parachute Regiment 4th Battalion, was shot while on patrol in Helmand Province in February.

His parents Tony and Sandi and his sister Siobhan were present as Lord Lieutenant Martin Dunne raised the flag at Shire Hall in Warwick, one of 500 raised simultaneously around the UK recognising the work of the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Warwickshire County Council leader Cllr Alan Farnell said: “Warwickshire is very proud of the soldiers who are serving their country. We were honoured to be joined in showing our support by Pte Lewis’ family, whose courage in the face of tragedy is a reminder to everyone of the realities of what is happening in Afghanistan.”
