Fatal crash on rural road

The collision took place around 9.30pm last Friday evening (September 25) on Kilworth Road, between the villages of North Kilworth and Kimcote.

Police said no other cars were involved. Emergency services said the driver of the vehicle - a red Vauxhall Corsa - was seriously injured and taken to University Hospitals of Coventy and Warwickshire, where he died.

A passenger in the vehicle was also taken to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire with minor injuries. She was discharged after treatment.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “If you were driving along Kilworth Road around the time of the collision and either witnessed the incident or saw the car being driven beforehand then please contact us. It’s believed that the vehicle was travelling along Kilworth Road from North Kilworth towards Kimcote when it left the road and came to rest in a ditch.
