Firefighters tackle fire in Leamington Old Town

A SMALL bin fire brought several fire engines to old town in Leamington last night.

Shortly before 9pm Warwickshire Fire and Rescue service received a call about a fire on the ground floor of a high rise building in Christine Ledger Square, St John’s Road, Leamington.

A spokesman for the fire service explained that although it was only a bin fire, it is policy to send several fire engines when a high rise building is involved.

He added: “Most of the engines were there and back within 20 minutes, it was dealt with very quickly.

“It is better to be safe than sorry when a high rise is involved.”
