Flood warnings across south Warwickshire: Three people had a lucky escape when their car hit flood waters

Drivers are being warned to watch out for flooded roads after a three people nearly got trapped underwater near Southam.
The occupants of the car were able to climb out of the car after they drove into flood waters on Welsh Road West at about 5.15am this morning (Thursday).

Hide AdA spokesperson for Southam Fire Station, who were called to the scene, said: "They had not seen floodwater until the last moment and it put them into the ditch subsequently hitting a tree.
"On arrival all three occupants of the car were out of their vehicle and sitting in a passer-by’s van."Be careful today, and the next few days the local area is experiencing localised flooding.
"Do not drive through flood water, even if you are in a SUV. We don't want anyone hurt - or worse - over Christmas."
An ambulance was also called but the three people were not hurt.
