We reported how former soldiers, many of whom did not know him, got together to give him a fitting farewell at his funeral. This week, publicans Joyce and Jeff Doherty - the parents of Jeff Doherty who was killed in action in Afghanistan - of the Breeze Bar in Southam donated £500 and undertaker Stephen McDonald handed over £700 on behalf of John Taylor Funeral Service to the Mike Riley Memorial Fund, which will help towards the funeral costs. Paratrooper Riley’s daughters, Jade and Becky, were at the presentation.
