Get involved in beekeeping in south Warwickshire

Bees have travelled the equivalent distance from south Warwickshire to the moon to produce five jars of honey, say members of the Warwick and Leamington Beekeepers.

The group, which already has around 200 members, is encouraging more people to get involved in beekeeping - and they will show anyone interested how to do so on a course that starts on January 7.

Participants will be able to handle bees and learn how to build a hive on the six-week course, which takes place on Tuesday evenings from then on and costs £55 per person.

Those who decide to join the club and keep bees for themselves can make use of club sites if they do not have their own garden, while members are also invited to bee-related talks and social events.

Most Popular

Members say that caring for bees takes up about half an hour per week during the summer and less than that in the winter months - while free honey is guaranteed.
