Harbury man’s killer is bought out of jail

THE man found guilty of killing a Harbury father-of-three will not go to jail.

Kenneth Watkinson, 48, and his business partner Craig Elford were killed instantly after being involved in a hit-and-run incident in Florida in February 2009.

Last March Illinois man Ryan LeVin, was charged with vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a crash involving vehicular homicide and failing to remain at the scene of a crash involving death.

It was believed that he was taking part in a car race at the time. After striking the two men he sped off at 100mph in his Porsche 911 Turbo.

But after reaching a confidential money settlement with Mr Watkinson’s widow Kirsty and Mr Elford’s family, on Friday Judge Barbara McCarthy sentenced LeVin to a two-year house arrest with ten years’ probation.

The 35-year-old, who is the heir to a Park Lane jewelery firm, was also banned from driving for life and ordered to do 1,000 hours’ community service. But he will be able to live at his parents’ oceanfront apartment which has a private beach.
