Hat-trick of hole-in-ones helps veteran Wilkinson to lift Crewe Lane’s golfer of the year accolade

The 82-year-old hit the headlines in the summer by hitting an astonishing three holes-in-one on the 140-yard par three 7th hole in just four weeks.

The amazing feat was recognised by outgoing captains David Howe and Sue Draper who presented the award at the final social event of their year in office.

Meanwhile, the ladies and seniors combined for their final Texas Scramble of the winter season on Thursday.

The quartet of Tony Ranger, Hugh Matthews, Val Cushing and Terry Spencer emerged triumphant from runners-up Marshal Clark, Brian Bridges, Betty Galsworthy and Sandra Melling.

Alan Donaldson, Chris Aldridge, Pauline Moyers and Leslie Cheslin finished third.

Coventry Golf Club’s Senior Ladies’ Open again proved popular with the three-ball alliance attracting 35 competitors.

The winning stableford score of 77 was entered by home player Judy Walter and her two Kenilworth team-mates, Anne Hastings and Caroline Smith.

Entries are now open to Leamington & County’s senior men’s open and men’s open pairs.

The senior event takes place on Monday June 17 and will be split into three divisions, while the open pairs (July 13) will be a better-ball stableford.
