Hundreds turn out for funeral of Pte Conrad Lewis

HUNDREDS of people have turned out to pay tribute to fallen soldier Pte Conrad Lewis.

The Warwick paratrooper’s funeral took place at St Mary’s church in his home town on Friday.

The 22-year-old, of 4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment, died as a result of gunshot wounds after coming under enemy fire while attached to 3rd Battalion (3 Para) in Afghanistan on Wednesday February 9.

The funeral took place with full military honours, including a firing party which fired a 21-gun salute after the service.

During the funeral, Pte Lewis’s family and other loved ones gave readings which described the young soldier’s bravery and outgoing personality.

Pte Lewis’s father Tony said: “Welcome home great man, we are all heartbroken, but you will certainly live within us for eternity and we will try to live up to your standards.”
