Illegal gin trap snares Warwick cat

A CAT caught in an illegal gin trap is being cared for at Avonvale Veterinary Centre in Warwick where vets have had to amputate three of its toes.

The cat had been brought into the surgery after it had staggered into a garden off the Myton Road and collapsed.

Practice manager Diane Goddard said: “The trap’s jaws had snapped shut around its hind leg and it was in an awful state. He must have been in terrible pain and obviously sought refuge in this garden. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to save all its toes.”

Staff are looking to find his owner and the RSPCA is investigating. Anyone recognising him should call 400255.
