Jaguar leaps into partnership

Students are to be given a helping hand finding jobs in design and engineering following a partnership between their village high school and Jaguar Land Rover.

The three-year deal is between the car firm and Kineton High School and will focus on developing the employability of students.

Headteacher Siona Robson said: “Kineton High School is excited to be working with Jaguar Land Rover, the UK’s largest automotive manufacturer, whose Design and Engineering Centre in Gaydon is located close to the school.

“Many of our students have gone on to work for Jaguar Land Rover and we know that over the next three years the partnership will benefit our students and staff providing experiences and strengthening skills important for the working world.

“Plans are already in place for our ongoing partnership which will include developing students’ employability skills, supporting enterprise opportunities and mentored work related projects. It is going to a very exciting three years.”

“It is vital that we attract the next generation of engineers and technologists to help our technology and engineering-led business.

“We are delighted to commence a partnership with Kineton High School which we hope will increase students’ employability, world of work awareness, engagement in science, technology, engineering and maths and encourage more young people to consider engineering careers.”

To launch the initiative 60 Year 9 students and staff participated in a Jaguar Land Rover Challenge Day supported by Jaguar Land Rover staff in a series of projects focused on manufacturing, engineering and marketing.

Kineton High School was presented with a leaping Jaguar model by JLR in recognition of the new partnership.
