Kenilworth Lions donate hundreds to talking book service
Kenilworth Lions has donated hundreds of pounds to a talking book service based in Kenilworth Library using the profits of the Lions' store in Farmer Ward Road.
The volunteers who run the ‘Bazaar’ part of the store asked for the £650 made in profits to be donated to the De Montfort Talking Book Service, which provides audiobooks to blind people in Warwickshire.
The money will enable the purchase of around 60 new audiobooks. The service is run by a team of 35 volunteers and is open from Monday to Friday every week.
It is currently building up its library of audiobooks in the MP3 format, which is much more efficient than storing audio on tape cassettes.
