The Friends of All Saints’ Parish church, a charity, will be launched at the church in Victoria Terrace on Friday November 14 from 7.30pm.

The evening will open with drinks and canapes, followed by a tour of the building and a short presentation, explaining how and why to get involved.

Members have said that, like with every parish church, All Saints’ relies on its congregation and the wider community to fund the building and its maintenance.

There is no central pot for this.

Additional funding can only be obtained through very competitive grant applications, the results of which are not guaranteed.

The objective of the Friends group is to raise funds and assist with grant applications as well as widen the circle of people dedicated to maintaining the landmark.

Many would like to see the landmark restored to its former glory, while some offer their contribution as members of the congregation.

Others may wish to support just the building.

The Rev Christopher Wilson, vicar of the church, said: “When you picture Leamington, what do you see? Many people would say the iconic parish church.

“The objective of the Friends is to enable those who love the building and value its presence in the town to help make sure it’s here for their children and grandchildren to enjoy for centuries to come. We hope to see as many faces, new and old, as possible on November 13.”
