They have been inspired by Kelly’s four-year-old niece Florence Unsworth, who is undergoing treatment for leukaemia after she was diagnosed with the disease in March 2014.

Florence’s mum Kim, who is also part of RunTeamFlo, said: “Flo is currently still receiving various chemotherapies on daily, weekly and monthly basis.

“The monthly is so strong she needs steroids to compensate and keep her going. Every three months under general anaesthetic she has a lumber puncture with spinal chemo.

“If you don’t already know her, Flo is a beautiful, brave girl who loves life and adores her little brother Archie.

“The children receiving treatment for cancer go through so much.

“The treatments have dreadful side effects, leaving children in discomfort, pain and feeling very poorly.

“The children I have met on our journey and Flo, have inspired and amazed me and at the same time broken my heart.”

RunTeamFlo have raised more than £24,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Table tennis star Kelly has said: “Flo is more than just my niece, she’s my absolute world and I love her more as a daughter.

“As a result of Flo’s diagnosis i decided that i wanted to raise as much money as awareness for this awful disease and where better place to start than a half marathon.”
