Lifesavers praised in commendation award

Warwickshire lifesavers have been officially commended for rushing to help Kenilworth councillor Richard Davies when he suffered a heart attack during a speech last year.

Police chief constable, Andy Parker and councillor Bob Prabhjit Dhillon have now been given the Chief Officer Commendation by the West Midlands Ambulance Service.

The pair stepped in to save the life of the then Warwick District Council chairman Cllr Davies who collapsed while making a speech at a civic dinner last April.

After suffering a heart attack, the councillor stopped breathing and his rescuers, and nurses in the room, stepped in to give emergency CRP and keep him alive before paramedics arrived to rush him to hospital. A

n ambulance spokesperson said their efforts “almost certainly” saved the life of father-of-two Richard who has said he owes his health to the duo.

Cllr Davies spent five weeks in hospital after the attack, and underwent a heart bypass.
