Wellesbourne and Shakespeare Lions Clubs are aiming to raise an oar-some amount for their chosen charity Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).

It is hoped that the Lions raft race will raise over £10,000 for RDA, a Warwick-based disability charity.

The event, which takes place on the River Avon, traditionally attracts more than 60 rafts all built by teams who take on the challenge of paddling over seven miles from Wasperton to Stratford.

This year’s event takes place on Sunday July 23, 2017.

Race Manager Charles Williams said: “Our annual raft race is a fun event and this year will be our 41st anniversary.”

“We are most grateful for the continued support from local organisations and raft crews and are really looking forward to working with RDA this year.”
