‘Lucky’ driver walks free from crash near Leamington

“MIRACULOUS” is the word ambulance crews have used to describe the survival of a man whose car overturned in a crash near Leamington yesterday (Monday).

His car had careered across the central barrier near junction 12 of the M40 and crashed into a road sign on the embankment, before flipping over and landing on its roof.

An ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and a senior paramedic officer were called to the scene at around 3.45pm.

An ambulance spokeswoman said: “Miraculously, the driver, a man in his 30s, had got himself out of the vehicle and suffered minor injuries.

“Considering the nature of the crash and the damage sustained to the car, it is remarkable that he didn’t suffer more serious or even fatal injuries.”

The man was taken to Warwick Hospital for further assessment.
