New motocross track in countryside set for approval?
Rugby Borough Council planning officers recommend temporarily approving the dirt track filled with jumps at Mobbs Wood Farm off B4029 near Ansty.
The track would only be used on Wednesdays and Saturdays yet some neighbours are in opposition with concerns about noise and building on the green belt.

Hide AdCombe Fields Parish Council voiced its worries, insisting permission should only be given for a year, but admitted it would be a valuable project for young people.
A noise survey found the proposed track activity would be less than guidance levels and would not affect residents.
“Despite the stated limitations of the report, as acknowledged by the council’s environmental services, it does demonstrate from a risk based perspective the site has the potential for a moto X practice track to operate from the site with a degree of certainty that residential amenity will not be affected,” the report said.
Developers want to build the track following the agricultural field’s natural contours, with jumps made from existing top soil, next to Delta Force Paintball.

The developers, believed to be motocross company based in Rugby Fast Traxx, owned by Rugby man David Alexander, say the track will be ‘family-friendly’ and previous ventures show it will be a success.
“The development will build on the experience of Fast Traxx, in working with local authorities, when operating a mobile track,” a planning statement says.
“The applicant has also opened and developed a practise track in Leicestershire.

“This previous track ran in harmony with the local community without attracting any negative publicity, whilst the applicant was in a position of management.
“The applicant ran this track successfully for a three year period.”
Motorsport facilities in the area have been in the spotlight recently with speedway team Coventry Bees under threat due to a police investigation at the home, Brandon Stadium.
Planning committee members will make the final decision at a meeting at the town hall at 5.30pm on Wednesday.
